The British Broadcasting Corporation Hindi Service seeks Editor in New Delhi.

BBC Hindi Service is a 24/7 multimedia operation, largely based in Delhi. We bring the Hindi speaking audience across India and the world international and Indian news online and mobile, as well as radio output on SW and non- news programmes on FM.

As Hindi Service Editor, in Delhi your focus will be to deliver the high quality journalism our audiences expect, and to develop our digital output to meet the very competitive challenges of the India media market. Therefore, you'll lead our output across all platforms whilst driving our contribution to the whole of the BBC's journalism and all of its audiences.

Role: A key part of your role will be to re-launch bbc.hindi.com, with a global India agenda, aimed at increasing our impact in the market and bringing the BBC to a new generation of Hindi audience. So, you'll be integral to our strategic development and will contribute to the direction of the BBC as a whole in India.

Part of this strategic direction will include leading plans for the development of a BBC Hindi TV offer. As a result, you'll develop our team to meet the challenges of new output and new platforms, leading them in making a greater contribution to the rest of the BBC's output in English.

In developing our staff, you'll lead assessment and training, setting objectives and conducting appraisals..

Candidate profile: Importantly, you'll show a thorough understanding of the BBC's Global agenda and of India's international role, and it is essential that you are fluent in Hindi and English. You'll have proven top level digital journalism and creative digital production skills, alongside experience of leading original high impact journalism as a whole.

Complimenting this will be your experience of leading a sizeable team through considerable change, for example, platform changes, or acquiring new skills.

Aligned to this will be your considerable competency in managing budgets, demonstrating commitment to achieving the most efficient and cost effective use of resources.

You'll also show all of the personal characteristics required to advocate our values and behaviours and in turn, inspire staff commitment around these values.
