PII-UNICEF National Journalism Students Award

PRESS INSTITUTE OF INDIA 


Dear Friend, 


As you are aware, the Press Institute of India (PII) is  an autonomous body devoted to the cause of establishing and promoting high standards in the field of journalism. The institute has been engaged in conducting training programmes for working journalists,  journalism educators as well as journalism students. The focus of this effort has been on developmental issues such as health ,education, child rights, environment and water. 


In order to encourage awareness on these issues among journalism students, the institute in collaboration with the United Nations Childred's Fund ( Unicef) has instituted PII  UNICEF National Journalism Students Award . The award will be given for excellent journalistic work on issues such as health challenges for children, nutrition, water, environment and sanitation, HIV/AIDS, child protection, educations and child labour. The journalistic work can be presented in any form features, articles, photographs, posters and cartoons. Entries will be accepted in Hindi and English. Cash awards of Rs 10,000 will be given in all the categories. 


All entries should be sent through head of the institute or of  the department, must be certified that they are original and submitted by bonafide students. Nominations should be accompanied by three copies/ samples of student's work and a brief statement about the nominee along with a statement explaining why the nominee merits recognition. 


Entries will be evaluated by an independent jury consisting of eminent journalists. The  decision of the jury shall be final. All awardess will be notified  individually. No queries will be entertained. Awards ceremony will be held on a date to be notified later.

The entries should reach at following address on or before October 20, 2007, They  should be contained in cover marked "Entry for PII- UNICEF Award"
